I have a 55 pound American Staffordshire Terrier, also known as a Pitbull. Anyone who knows this breed knows that they have very little fat and cannot keep warm in winter because they have a very flat, fine coat. After reading extensively on many different places I settled on the Ruffwear Powder Hound Dog Jacket as it is waterproof on the back and has reportedly held up well to abuse and a dog trying to rub against objects to get around the take off jacket. I just recently bought a second Ruffwear Powder Hound jacket for this dog so I always have a clean one because he rides around and is quite smelly, he is a walker only. As soon as he put on his first jacket and sniffed at it, he noticed that he felt instantly warmer, he looked me straight in the face and started licking me to say thank you for all he's done in the four years he's been with living together had never done me, even after giving him some very special treats. Even after it rained and he decided to stand in the rain because he is not very smart, I went to visit him and pet him and I put my hand under his jacket from behind and it was always dry and warm no matter how wet and/or it is cold. Yes, $90 for a dog jacket is quite expensive, but this is the best I've found and does what it's supposed to do and withstands the heavy abuse my dog is subjected to. So I take a deep breath and hit buy now. ***Before you decide to buy any of this brand's products, please go to their website and check the size chart carefully. Please measure your dog and find out what size is best for him, he did a great job.***
