The backup camera on my 2013 Outback started going out sporadically a few years ago and finally gave up about two years ago. I always assumed it would be more expensive to take them to the dealer for repairs, but this camera swap couldn't be simpler. I bought it and took it to my favorite independent auto repair shop for installation. I think parts and labor totaled $300 and I now have a working backup camera.
