Replacement Replacement

The new camera behaves the same as the old one in terms of displaying a sharp and clear image on the mirror. The installation took a little over 1.5 hours due to the location, but everything worked as expected.

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Rear camera best in camera systems

Replaced factory camera that failed due to corrosion of a poorly sealed factory camera. Silicone sealed the camera body before installation hoping it would last. The camera immediately caught fire when reverse gear was engaged.

Pros
  • Quick change
Cons
  • Doubtful

It's a backup camera, not a fender

We trusted the part number and comments from other reviewers that this is indeed a Subaru backup camera. Thank god they were right! My husband installed it on our 2011 Subaru Outback with no problem and now I can see it!

Pros
  • Excellent overall specs
Cons

Direct replacement for my 2014 Subaru Outback

Installation requires removing the inner and outer tailgate trim. Being careful not to break the trim clips this took about 2 hours. Trim removal tool and 8mm socket. The actual connection was simple plug and play. I fixed my intermittent backup camera and it works as expected.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not bad

Easy replacement

The backup camera on my 2013 Outback started going out sporadically a few years ago and finally gave up about two years ago. I always assumed it would be more expensive to take them to the dealer for repairs, but this camera swap couldn't be simpler. I bought it and took it to my favorite independent auto repair shop for installation. I think parts and labor totaled $300 and I now have a working backup camera.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Fits my 2014 Subaru Outback but maybe not worth it?

Looks and fits like a factory original part but I have to say I was not impressed with the picture quality. My rear camera hasn't worked in months so I may not remember what it looked like new, but the picture seems grainier than I remember. If I could do it again, I'd probably just leave the $210 (including Washington state sales tax) I paid for it in my wallet and just get on with it without a working backup camera.

Pros
  • Regular Price
Cons
  • Negative Impression
