To be honest I wanted a bike rack for 4 bikes but instead I bought one for 3 bikes especially for the locking feature which is a must for me. Finding a bike rack is next to impossible at the moment and I couldn't wait for others to be in stock due to our holiday plans. I followed the video instructions on Allen's website for assembly and installation and it was a breeze! I have a 1 1/4" hitch (this rack works with both 1 1/4" and 2") and the locking mechanism worked great. I highly recommend getting a rack with a lock. We drove 160 miles one way and the posture never let up. I had three adult bikes on the rack. I also got an Allen Sports Tension Bar Adapter for my women's bike. I have a 7" heavy duty safety cable together for the rack mount Bought with a steel mesh bike lock to secure the ends of the cable loops. I routed the cable through all the bike wheels around the back of the rack and secured it. Swings and security were my primary concerns and everything was mitigated by this. Allen did not disappoint!
