It was great to finally buy a modem and not from (formerly) Time Warner Cable, I thought it would be as simple as ordering it, unpacking it when it arrives and setting it up, looking at the Register on the TWC website and authorize the customer's new modem and return the rented modem permanently the next day. Well this time it's not Time Warners fault that the long and ridiculous process ensued last night after I unpacked and installed the new modem. It was solely the seller's fault for not carefully examining the product they were reconditioning and selling. Because the modem I bought from Revain was refurbished, which means the previous owner of the modem probably linked it to the account via the serial number and guess what, the modem was still active on someone else's account. Time Warner was very helpful in explaining why they can't activate the modem on my account if it's linked to an active account or a closed account with past due balances. Luckily the previous owner had Time Warner Cable as their ISP so they politely called the old owner of the modem after I explained that I had bought it through Revain. The old owner released the modem and about thirty (30) minutes after the problem started, the modem connected to my account and started. Don't use the internet connection often. Things could have ended badly if the previous owner had an ISP other than Time Warner because the rep said he couldn't activate the modem he was currently assigned and the agent did his best to make it happen and contacted the old owner turned. I want the seller to do their homework on the equipment they will accept for repair and resale. If the old owner had a closed account with outstanding debts, I'd buy a useless white plastic square. hoping that your purchase will not be a problem as the buyer should not be responsible for the device not being blacklisted.
