I have a pair of 10+ year old sibling cats. Sadie is smaller and very careful in the litter box. I NEVER have to check her feet for stray sticky litter. But Rudie? Another story. He is much larger, and the vet says he's probably arthritic and definitely diabetic, hence the enormous amount of water he drinks throughout the day and night. Which results in large puddles of pee in the litter box. And sometimes he gets just his feet in the box but his hiney is sticking out - over the litter mat. So yes, it's 'water-proof' but now that he has wet the mat, he jumps OVER it and onto the floor, so the litter never gets a chance to come off. Not the litter mat's fault. I'm sure with cats who urinate a normal amount, this mat will suffice.
