I used my shock/struts for my camper box under the mattress. Being single senior age female, I don't have the strength I did at one time, so lifting the box lid & trying to hold it open with the weight of the mattress on it was difficult for me. Now it's a breeze AND I don't even have to hold it open any longer, the struts do it for me. When I'm all done I push down on the mattress & it closes easily. What a lifesaver for me. My Son did install them as that wasn't so easy for me by myself.
