The short male to male coaxial cable supplied was of very poor quality and mine was defective/non-functional. Installed As instructed, my cable modem was offline and only partially reaching 1 of 4 uplinks and none of the 16 downlinks I have from my ISP. With the coax removed all channels are connected and so far I haven't seen any problems. On the other hand, I didn't have any surges. Now that I think about it, neither end of the cable screws properly into the protector. Wrong or poorly made thread.
