I'm a contract worker and needed a new direct placement gun for a large deck I was working on. I love my Bostitch frames so I decided to give this one a try. It works well and sinks nails effectively. I've used it to attach joist hangers and hurricane ties and it was quick and efficient for the task. At this job, however, he got stuck several times. I didn't notice it the first time, and he kept firing anyway, driving the second nail into the nail that was stuck in the nose and breaking the nose guard. It still works well with the cracked nose, but this and a few subsequent plugs have been a lifesaver. Also, the nose section doesn't come loose like other shotguns, so you can easily clear any jams. If this gun had an opening nose I would give it 5 stars but without that feature it just doesn't exist. That said, unless you're working on a production job where speed matters and you're keeping a close eye on the jamming, you'll be fine. Note that I only had trouble removing the heavy 1-1/2" zinc plated fasteners. No problem with 3" zinc plated frame nails. ) Results. I've found the problem with this gun is that the bostitch nails for this gun don't fit the magazine very well, so the nails don't always move forward. I have a habit of pressing the loading lever when using the gun to make sure the nails are moving forward. When I do that, it works great. But you still think Bostitch would make nails that actually matched their own guns, right?
