I recently hired a trainer and got a collar for my large dog. With excellent results I wanted to buy a collar that would be suitable for training my Miniature Poodle. That collar just isn't right. Returned immediately after purchase. First impression? There is a big warning on the box that says "NOT CHARGE FOR MORE THAN FOUR HOURS!" in bold - how can I prevent this? We usually take the collar off the dog at night and charge for the night. Why doesn't the charger turn off after the battery is fully charged? It actually scared me. What if I accidentally charge it for more than 4 hours? Maybe a fire? So I was about to send it back. The next problem is that this collar is too strong. It is adjustable from intensity levels from 1 to 100. For comparison I also now have a leading branded collar for my large dog and it works from 1 to 127. My larger dog works at around 10-15 with this other collar. I used it on myself to find out what intensity is. I have to set another collar to 25 to feel it. I use tens all the time, and 25 is tolerable as a mean on tens. But this collar? At 1 o'clock it tightened the muscles in my arm. Like twice the power of a ten at the highest setting. Stage 2 was painful. So in my opinion this collar is useless above level 1. And I would be afraid that I would accidentally put it one below level 1 and it would go to 100. That would be cruel. The purpose of a shock collar is to get the dog's attention. DO NOT punish them. And if there is more than 1 on that collar I feel that will be a cruel punishment. In fact, even 1 is too much. The collar must move in 0.1 increments for everything to be ok. Finally, he says that it is designed for a small dog and comes in 2 collar sizes. The smaller one was still too big and its design didn't allow making it any smaller. So it still didn't fit my dog's tiny knee. And a few complaints about bonuses. The device is too loose in the collar. The block itself is not small. It's too heavy for my little dog.
