Hard mat great for fitness

I was very impressed with the 4x6 mat. I checked out a few other similar exercise mats on Revain and settled on this one. Here are some points I would like to make about it: 1. Its size is exactly as advertised: 4ft x 6ft. I also checked with a digital caliper that the mat is exactly 7mm thick. For reference, 7mm is just over a quarter or an inch, and the thickness is exactly the same as a stack of four quarters. As for all the reviews saying the mat is a different size, I'm sure it was just a mix up. It consists of small pieces of rubber that have been pressed flat. Based on some answers to questions posted by other buyers, the rug is made by cutting pieces out of a larger piece of rubber. While I can't confirm myself how they are made, the surface on both sides is very smooth, as if they were cut with a very sharp blade. Due to the distance between the small pieces of rubber, there are small indentations on the surface, but the surface is not uneven. You can hold the poses on your elbows or knees and the mat won't dent your skin.3. The mat does not move when used on carpet. I have used blocking foam squares in the past which have moved around during workouts but this mat stays in place which I am very happy with. I've also noticed that it doesn't leave a mark on my carpet, which is also a good thing.4. It's not that spongy, but it's a little useful. I'm trying to find a good comparison to describe how soft it is. It's about as durable as the rubber sole of an athletic shoe, maybe a little more durable depending on the shoe. Definitely more durable than a regular foam yoga mat. You can probably lose weight with it, but I haven't done it. It's quite firm, so it doesn't wrinkle, but it does flex. I use it on my carpet and feel cushioned underneath which makes it more comfortable to lie on than if it were on a hard floor. I use the above. It doesn't fully absorb noise. So if you live in an apartment above someone and jump onto that carpet, your neighbors might still hear you. In reality, however, you'll probably need multiple layers of rubber and foam to be completely silent. The rubber is very hard. I have no problem working out on this mat in shoes. It is neither slippery nor sticky.7. As mentioned above, it has small indentations due to gaps between compressed pieces of rubber. I assume it could absorb moisture. I haven't had this rug long enough to have any problems with it. I assume regular use of an all purpose cleaner will keep it clean.8. It has a slight rubber odor that is somewhat noticeable after unpacking. On the second or third day the smell disappeared.9. The top and bottom are the same. There is a sticker on one side indicating it is the bottom. The answer to the question in the questions section mentions that the mats are cut from a larger piece of rubber and the "bottom" may have a different gloss than the "top". However, they are the same surface in all respects.10. Unfolds and lies flat. It has no memory, which causes it to curl up. 11. Only the mat is included. No carry bag or velcro straps. But for me it's ok. I thought I'd mention it was very important to someone. 12. It weighs maybe 25 pounds, so it's not very light, but it's not very heavy either.
