You have to go through a process to adjust the length of the piece to fit your door and for that you have to close the door very slowly and when you close you hear a series of pops and it's a plastic cylinder that slides a shorter length. Continue this process slowly until the door is completely closed. There are no instructions in this part, so it's a good idea to consult YouTube if you have any questions. Aside from "calibrating" for your particular door, installation is pretty straightforward. Simply unplug and plug in again. You have to keep it in place. Quite easy. Would definitely buy again.
