I bought this Spring Chef dough mixer to replace an old tire for a specific purpose: baking cookies from scratch. Attempting to mix partially frozen butter cubes with flour using my old tire dough mixer was a disappointment as the metal loops would come loose. Not so with this Spring Chef blender. This thing is built like a tank and feels very solid. The blender blades are not sharp, but are designed to easily cut through frozen butter and mix well without bending it. The handle has a soft feel, which is also a big improvement over my old wooden-handled tool. My only complaint is that the handle on this blender is a bit small for my adult male hand. It would be ideal if the handle were half a centimeter longer. However, it is a definite improvement over my old dough mixer and I would highly recommend it. Spring Chef sells a larger model, which I wasn't aware of when I bought the medium-sized model. So if you have big hands, you might want to check out the larger model available on the Spring Chef website in case Revain doesn't. . have it. Now a word about customer service. After I bought my dough mixer, I received an email from one of Spring Chef's co-founders asking if I liked it. I pretty much answered what I said in my original review above. I didn't ask for anything and just gave my opinion on the product. He emailed me straight away and said he would send me a bigger blender, which he did. He wanted to make sure I was 100% satisfied with my purchase. Now that customer service just can't be beat and that's why I bought a new box grater from Spring Chef shortly after and will review Spring Chef before I buy any other cooking items. So here is a comparison of two stand mixers for testing. The size of a medium-sized dough mixer is approximately 4-1/2 inches from the back of the handle to the very tip of the blade; a large dough mixer measures 5-1/4 inches in the same measurement. A medium-sized blender handle measures about 3-1/8" outside (3" length on the inside of the handle); The large blender handle measures 4-3/4" on the outside (4-3/8" on the inside of the handle). So a larger blender not only has a larger handle, which makes it more comfortable in my situation, but also a larger blade size. I've posted photos to compare the two side by side (that's not rust on the blades, that's a reflection of our pot rack above). Both the medium and large Spring Chef dough mixers are very solidly built and work very well. . If you have small hands or need to mix the batter in a small bowl, a medium-sized mixer will work for you. But I suspect most people are more comfortable with a large dough mixer, especially if you have big hands. No matter which one you buy, you can rest assured that Spring Chef stands behind the quality of their products and wants you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase.
