I love this thermometer! It's the best thing to eat after sliced bread. If like me you can't keep an eye on the grill because you're busy preparing the rest of your dinner, then this is the device for you. I've had mine for over two years now and use it at least weekly. I like rarer meats a little more, so I usually take the meat off the grill as soon as the device says the meal is almost ready. I've also used it instead of my candy thermometer when making desserts and it works amazing. Sometimes so much condensation forms on standard glass thermometers when the sugar is fully cooked that it's difficult to see the analog temperature reading. I had no problems with the range of the instrument. Between the grill and the kitchen is the brick exterior wall of my house and I've never had a device lose signal unless the batteries were low. I can take it anywhere in my house and the handset is still connected to the base unit. I eventually killed it by putting the probe in an undersized piece of meat and I heated the probe up enough to fry any kind of thermocouple. I will definitely try to buy a spare sensor as I love this device very much. In fact, I can grill food without serving up the charred remains of a good cut of meat.
