I used this on a 1991 yz250 and it worked great, one collet was a little large but the other fit almost perfectly maybe with some play between the steering stem and the collet . but not big. Just use the red part of the pipe shown in the picture (sorry I don't know what it's called) under the triple clamp and all the shock will be transferred to the bearing. I only did a couple of hits and was able to install the new bearing with no problems, even twice because the first time we forgot the bearing dust ring was under the bearing and had to use this tool to remove and reinstall it.
