Review on Garmin 010-02174-01 Vivoactive 4: GPS Smartwatch with Music, Body Energy Monitoring, and More by EN Tien ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The purchase brought only positive emotions.

I own one of the best watches on the market today. I live in Hong Kong, when choosing a watch, it was necessary to satisfy the needs: unsportsmanlike design, accurate tracking of running activity, harmin pay, music from the watch, new gps and heart rate sensors on the wrist. Long agony of choice, surfing the Internet, viewing characteristics and videos - all this confused even more when choosing a watch model. Initially I wanted fenix 6 pro, as I was the owner of fenix 5 sapphire, but they lived for half a year. I have been familiar with Garmin equipment for a long time, I am satisfied with the quality of their performance, so the questions were exclusively in meeting individual needs. I train like an amateur, the volume of training is 200+ km per month, so it’s somehow not advisable to buy a top watch for 50k. After some time, the choice fell on vivoactive4, which has new sensors and the ability to play music via bluetooth, the ability to use a chest heart rate monitor. I bought the European version for 18k. The charge is kept for 4 days: notifications from the phone are turned on during the day, 2 workouts with music via bluetooth and a bib, lasting 1.5 hours, the pulse oximeter is always turned off (I don’t see the point in this function when used in the city). With the release of venu2, of course, a very cool alternative appeared, the watch has a new shell and software, but vivoactive will not cease to be relevant for a long time if you live in the city, work in the office, train in your free time.

Pros
  • The quality is excellent. Quick release straps. Good gps sensor (sony), as on top models. Fast and reliable bluetooth connection. Lightweight, ergonomic, suitable for business attire. Transflective display is the best solution for sports watch. Convenient touch control. In general, the price / quality performance is the highest level, because this is a Garmin. There is a shop of dials and customization for every taste and color.
Cons
  • Glitchy software is what Garmin is all about. With listening to music during a workout, it's a quest to turn up the volume or turn off the shuffle. During training, the running track is written crookedly, as a result, cf. pace, which should be considered before the competition and choose models with a more accurate track. Irrelevant functions in the form of bodybattery, etc. only confuse and eat a charge. Limited functionality in collecting training data (due to marketing strategy). At the end of the workout, the watch continues to look for headphones and a chest heart rate monitor - this eats the battery - again, the software cant.
