Review on Thousand Oaks Optical Solar Filter Sheet: Perfect for Telescopes, Binoculars, and Cameras! by Josh Ulrich

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not what I ordered / But can be used.

I ordered this item because I thought the description and photos said it was black polymer plastic. What arrived was a sheet of Mylar foiled on one side, like those cheap paper glasses you can buy for $2. This is not what I ordered and if it weren't so close to the August 21st eclipse I would be sending it back! This material easily leaves fingerprints and scratches. I hope this works at least a little bit. Carefully! Edit: After some thought, I figured out the best way to use this film. Place it between two sheets of plexiglass and seal the edges with hot glue. Got a decent test photo. But I want the film to be what I expected it to be. I'm increasing my rating to 4 stars. Notice the tiny sunspot in the lower-right corner of the test photo. Shot with a Canon T3i and a 300mm zoom lens, zoomed in fully and then cropped closer.
