Coyotes, eagles (bald) and hawks are common where I work, so I wanted to be able to see a little every now and then. This monocular was affordable but was a bit concerned about the low power (8x42 vs 10x50). I'll be shooting primarily handheld, so I figured I could get a stable image at 8x power. It is stable (doesn't wobble much) and the glass is clean. One of my priorities was getting glass covers for the front and back. The back glass (the smallest) is not attached to the strap so can get lost, but the front (large) protective glass is attached to the monocular. The eye-soothing works for me as I wear glasses, but my friends at work don't, so they adjust the eyepiece as needed. The halyard is a little tight but I think it will stretch over time. Compact enough, good monocular for the price. Would recommend to a friend. Trust me some of my friends at work are interested in picking them up for their work bags. Gave 4 stars because the monocular covers are not attached and the bag is a bit tight. A belt loop on the bag would be a nice improvement for hiking.
