Bought this for a 4.5 year old and ordered an XS (luckily got it instead of a 5T) and it fit him . My son is not very tall and weighs about 43 pounds and size XS fits him. It was cut close enough to his body that it didn't ride up, but most importantly it offered excellent sun protection.
