Review on Combination Whetstone Sharpening Waterstone T0914W by Rhonda Hughes

I have to admit my belief system is limited - I haven't used many different stones. I've used many, many sharpeners, pocket stones, and small stones, but this is my first real desktop water stone. It outperforms all smaller diamonds. It really outperforms the diamond sets with 4 clamps and guide rods. It REALLY outperforms any quick sharpener I've used. It gently and evenly removes material from the blade and seems to be wearing well so far. The included rubber base is pretty good and I don't need a separate stone stand at all. I got 600/1000 for the rough work and 3000/8000 for the finishing. Pros might want to take more steps, but I make mirror edges on all of my kitchen, hunting, and pocket/utility knives with these two sets of stones. This thing makes the edges very clean. After using this stone (properly), my knives became almost too sharp. I went to slice some meat and he sliced through the steak (admittedly thin), BOA it to the edge of the blade. I'm afraid I'll open the envelope with my pocketknife and cut off my finger without being noticed until I pick my nose and find a stump. You may want to get the right stone for her.
