Great stone for finishing polishing at a great price.

I love this stone. I often find myself using the 3000 grit side to polish my knives and make them razor sharp. I usually start with a 1000 grit stone (assuming the blade isn't too worn) and then move on to a 3000 grit stone. I use 8000 grit for some of my Japanese knives, so it's nice to have both options.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • No instructions

Great Purchase (4.5 Stars)

I am happy with my purchase. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. The only problem is I know it won't last long. I've used this on my straight razor and it's been amazing, but corrodes pretty quickly. However, the performance was outstanding. I wish the razor had a finer grit, but I can't blame the product for that. If you are looking for a razor sharpener, just buy a thinner stone as well.

Pros
  • Sequins
Cons
  • Is there anything I can add

Great purchase, great quality!

This stone has a very nice rubber base and is very well finished. Not as heavy as other stones I've used but it does the job and it does it very well! Soak in cold water for 10-15 minutes and you're good to go! Easy cleaning and great results! I would recommend this stone for straight razors, kitchen knives and pocket knives. I don't know how it works on scissors but I'm sure it will work very well if you have experience sharpening! I recommend this stone!

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • All right

Superb knife sharpening tool

This product fits Smith's TRI-6 AK Tri-Hone sharpening system. I like the wide sharpening stone for its convenience and it works great at a great price. Too bad we didn't buy it sooner! The process was completed with a leather strap. Grindstones were cleaned with baking soda paste and a toothbrush. The 8000 grit side has a black embossed logo. It's slightly elevated, but eventually removed. I found it a little annoying (in my opinion) but that's okay when it finally wears out. Good product.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Working speed

Finally I can shave with kitchen knives.

I didn't use waterstones until I became a fan of soft, hard, and translucent stones in Arkansas. They seem to work a little faster than Arkansas bricks, but they are consumables and will eventually need to be replaced. This 3000/8000 worked well to sharpen my kitchen knife for shaving. I used the order 120/240/600/2000/3000/8000. My wife was dismayed to see me shave my face in the bathroom with our special 10" Walmart chef's knife, but it worked and I looked like Crocodile Dundee!

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Faint Set

Beware! The center can be easily damaged and deformed

I have stored this stone in water with all my regular natural (as opposed to ornamental) stones. One day I noticed that when sharpening this stone was deformed and wobbled. I haven't held the stone in water since then. Now I see a 2 inch circular discoloration in the center of the stone that appears to be gouged or damaged in the center. The stone's grain center has changed, becoming softer and incompatible with the rest of the stone. I straighten my stones before each use and this stone no…

Green page useful

I bought this sharpening stone because of its lower price compared to Norton 4K/8K. While I'm very happy to be able to succeed with the 3K green grain side, I'm completely disappointed with the 8K white side. I already had a 6K grit King sharpening stone and would use it for this green-to-white sharpening stone. However, the white side of this whetstone ruins the mirror I got on my "coarser" 6 carat stone. I've done this several times and the result is always the same (even using 8K Nagura to…

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • No form needed

Love this item, fits knife sharpener

I have to admit my belief system is limited - I haven't used many different stones. I've used many, many sharpeners, pocket stones, and small stones, but this is my first real desktop water stone. It outperforms all smaller diamonds. It really outperforms the diamond sets with 4 clamps and guide rods. It REALLY outperforms any quick sharpener I've used. It gently and evenly removes material from the blade and seems to be wearing well so far. The included rubber base is pretty good and I don't…
