Review on APEC WFS 1000 Capacity Under Sink Water by Mark Lowery

I bought this 3 stage filter to replace my reverse osmosis system. (I got tired of changing all the filters.) When this 3-stage filter was first installed, the water quality was very poor - I couldn't tell the difference between regular tap water and water filtered to taste. or looks. Both were yellow! Before my reverse osmosis system I had a simple single stage under counter filter that worked much better than this three stage one! A few days ago I decided to change the 3rd filter, the 5 micron filter, to a 0.5 micron filter. It has made a huge difference - now the water is clear and tastes just like it should! It also didn't slow down the flow of water. I don't understand why the manufacturer doesn't include a 0.5 micron filter as the last filter, but two 5 micron filters for stage 2 and 3. Many people who complained about poor water quality were recommended by the manufacturer. get a reverse osmosis system. Are they just trying to sell more reverse osmosis systems?! I'm sure a reverse osmosis filter will remove more microscopic contaminants, but if you're just getting great tasting water and want to remove most of the residue, a 3 stage filter with a 0.5 filter as the final filter will do.
