Only use gasket
I've had 1635 gaskets on a Dart Big m 540 with Dart Pro 1 heads that were leaking in the back corners. The valve covers are not bent (they are made of thick aluminum), the sealing surface of the head is smooth and clean. Used them with ARP studs and stainless steel locknuts and solved the problem.
