The installation was a bit tricky for me now, but I managed it! They are great for doors! We have a garage door that I like to keep open when we bring groceries. But if windows or doors are open somewhere on the first floor, the door slams shut with great force, the installation prevented that. It was absolutely necessary to pre-drill the metal door, but I chose the small side for the screw to engage and stay in, and I used a lock. I then installed one on my bedroom door, I have French doors and when one of these is open it is always half closed, I pre-drilled the wood and it was easy to install and works great! I only used them to hold the doors open, not to prevent the door from opening if someone tried to force my door open. That's it. What I love about them once they're installed is that I put them in place with my foot and then just push the included lever and they go up again! I don't have to get under it and try to raise it up, just push down and it works! Once installed, really easy to use! My rating is 5 stars - I love this item got me really excited you should get that 4 stars - I like this item and it's ok but it didn't go wow you need those 3 stars - this item is ok but has a few flaws 2 stars - quiet a few flaws, I would go elsewhere 1 star - rubbish useless, don't waste your time.
