Why so small considering this shelf is listed as 7" deep? Well, it's more like 6 3/4" deep. Overall "This is a great shelf. It comes in its retail packaging with no additional packaging so I can understand why some people had their packaging damaged (I was fine). In my case I wanted the equipment to be exactly 1U high on it but I could afford the extra space above. Your use case may vary, so be aware of the 1 3/8" high / 6 3/4" deep / 17 1/16" wide available for installation. Another note, it comes with 4 cage nuts, plastic washers and standoff screws, and they are all M6 sized. If your other gear uses UK sizes, just set them aside.
