This is a replacement for a device that I have used on my fish pond for several years to control mosquitoes. I switched to pills for this as I found too many beneficial insects to kill externally. And mosquitoes aren't attracted to ultraviolet anyway. However, I realized that my large garage (where I store bird/squirrel/deer food) would be the perfect spot for this device to help me with those ubiquitous pantries. moths! After buying another bulb for the first unit and realizing that wasn't the problem, I invested in the second incarnation and installed it over the food storage bins. It has not yet been decided whether the moths will win. I have my poisonous flying insect sprays ready for everyone I see. Once these indoor insects have taken root, it may be necessary to burn down the house to get rid of them. I'll see if I can attract more moths by hanging one of those sticky moth traps (with pheromone bait) on the device. However, I'm happy to report that I haven't found any fried beneficials. since I put it IN the garage!
