Review on ๐ŸชŸ BDF S2M Window Film Clear UV Blocking: Protect Your Home from Harmful Rays (24" X 12ft) by Kelly Nelson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Effectively blocks 95% of UV rays

I have already purchased this product without testing it. I still had to apply some more film to various windows and wanted to make sure it actually worked as advertised. I bought a good quality UV meter from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GT4EKF6?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) to make sure it worked. As you can see in the photos I cut a small triangle of foil and removed the backing. I then placed my UV meter in the dappled sunlight streaming into my home and got a reading of 1,434 microwatts per square inch (for comparison, direct sunlight produces over 2,000 microwatts per square inch of UV light). I taped film to the sensor and got a reading of 52 microwatts per square inch. This film therefore blocked about 95% of the UV radiation in this test. I personally think that it is very effective and therefore worth using this film. It's definitely not the advertised 99%, but still pretty good. Another option is to entrust window films to a professional. Instead of spending $30 on this project I would have spent the advertised $700. I'd say it's a good save, even if it's not a top-notch performance. As far as applying the foil and what it looks like afterwards, it takes some practice to get it applied correctly, but you can get good results in the end. You can definitely spot the film if you look for it near the window, but if you're an ordinary person standing more than 2 feet from the window, you'll never notice.
