KP200 Smart Socket: Dimmer Switch

I've been waiting a long time for TP-Link to release a smart socket (KP200). Definitely a quality device like everything else out there. Much better than the TopGreener smart socket (TOPGREENER TU21548A-W) I received. A few notes: - These smart plugs come with multi-wire wire pigtails (hot, neutral, ground) so you can just use the included wire nut to connect. It's like setting up a smart switch. There is no screw or push-in connection on the back of this unit like a traditional wall outlet. The Kasa app doesn't show real-time power consumption like smart plugs. stripes does. I hope they open this later, but I'm not sure if they already have a chip built in to perform this function on the socket. The Kasa app allows you to control the top and bottom outlets individually, as opposed to the top one. A greener smart plug that only controls the bottom while the top is always on. However, this smart socket tracks actual power consumption. I definitely recommend this smart plug if you don't have much space for a smart plug. For example, outdoor sockets with weatherproof sockets or if you have pushed furniture against the socket wall.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • poorly thought out
