First I have to say that I was skeptical when I bought it, but it was worth it. Everything I wanted to do with it works great. It can run a 2k screen over HDMI, I'm pretty sure the TB3 connector is passthrough and the other USB slots and SD card readers are working fine. However. An urgent problem is really killing me. If the computer is plugged in for a long time after the computer has gone to sleep, when it wakes up it will really mess up the SMC (I think). Any connected external display "blinks" or tries to turn on and then fails and repeats. If you disable it and connect the display directly to USB-C (in my case ASUS PG279Q via Displayport to USB-C), you still get the same problem as after the first occurrence of the error. Only after restarting the computer does the problem go away on its own. Also, I came back several times after leaving it for 20-30 minutes to see that my Macbook "had an error and needed to be restarted". without much explanation. I saw the same thing on the Windows 10 page about Bootcamp and got at least a Kernel Panic Error 41 in Event Viewer. If I remove this from the computer side and just run it directly, all problems/bugs are gone. So. Finally. It works great while you're using it, but I wouldn't recommend it as a long-term solution to your docking problem. It definitely helps against the lack of ports on the site, but it's by no means a definitive solution. Therefore I award 3 stars.
