Good pioneer! on car electronics

Fits 1997 Tacoma! Received this as a replacement for the previously existing "Premium Audio" cassette deck. So far I like the sound that comes out of it. It's definitely an improvement over a cassette deck if you're only going to be listening to it for a few days. The EQ and presets are good, and the radio, CD and aux inputs sound crystal clear. Pretty easy to program, but you get used to the buttons. The dedicated auxiliary output and blue "remote" cable is a handy feature if I ever need to use it. I have had this unit for several weeks now and have been listening to several hours of audio together. This unit appears to be about 30% louder than a standard 20 year old headunit before the amp starts clipping (I didn't put original JBLs in the door, by the way, so they're not speakers). If you're playing bass, don't necessarily expect a huge boost in performance, as the 15-watt max going to each speaker is probably more than a stock head unit, but it's not that much when you think about it. If you want bass, you may need to add a subwoofer. I am very satisfied with this device. It has excellent functionality and sound clarity. I recently added a flat 10" Pioneer speaker in the back seat. The amp is connected directly to the subwoofer output as well as a 'remote cable' so the amp turns off when the main unit does so. I put a switch in the middle of this remote control cable so I can turn off the subwoofer at any time. I have the head unit EQ to send vocals/mids to the door speakers and the subwoofer takes care of the bass. Very nice, balanced sound now in the truck.
