Review on ๐Ÿ”‘ Metal Magnetic AirTag Keychain - Apple Airtags Holder for Luggage, Wallet, Dog Collar | Key Ring Accessories by Thomas Unruh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value - detachable case

This is the first time I've bought something from Amazon with no reviews so I feel compelled to keep one for others. I wanted the Airtag holder to be strong and lightweight. I chose this one because it's magnetic, it's metal, and it feels like the ring on the metal case is wide enough to fit a key ring. It appears to be a copy of several others. I bought it because it was the cheapest back then (only $2.99). As you can see from the photos, it actually fits a regular sized keychain with the lobster clasp removed. Random observations: - The magnets surrounding the tag are strong. I don't see the risk of the label falling out. There is a fingernail sized notch to separate them and insert/remove the label. The metal body feels good. Not great, but not bad either. It's very easy. The clasp is thick/strong and the mechanism is solid and smooth. You can see his feather through the hole. This could cause water ingress and corrosion of the nib, but it's hard to tell since I just got it. If I remember, I'll try to update this review in the future in terms of durability. The leather strip that connects the clasp and the case seems quite thick to me. And combined with the fact that it's so short, I wouldn't worry too much about durability. The label only seems to fit in one case. I tried other ways but it didn't close completely. The metal side of the tag protrudes slightly from the case. If you care about scratches, you need to protect them in other ways. Scratches don't matter - the plastic bezel is embedded in the case at the edges and almost flush in the middle (because it's convex). Removing the clasp: As you can see in the photo, I removed the clasp to make it lighter and more minimal on my keys. At first I thought I'd have to cut the leather strip off, but then I realized that it's held on by two screws. Removing these screws allowed me to non-destructively detach the case, which is great. You will need a fairly small screwdriver though. I used Phillips 0 but it seems smaller bits (Phillips 00 or 000) work in a pinch. I tried Phillips 1 and it was too big. Verdict: At $2.99, this is really good value. I wouldn't be surprised if they raise the price because it was significantly cheaper than similar holders at the time of my purchase. I would still buy it at a higher price as it is of good quality and suits my needs very well.
