Review on Professional Electric Dog Fence Wire Dogs by Jackie Shallenberger

Excellent professional wire

I was installing a new fence around our new house and needed new wire as I had left the old wire in the ground at my old house. When I installed this pet safety box I used a 22g tether that was listed about 4 years before I had to replace it. Knowing this, I wanted a better wire so I wouldn't have to install a new wire every few years. So I settled on the 16g wire and was very happy with the quality when it arrived. new groove in the driveway. I rented a gas tool from a hardware store that dug the groove into the floor and also laid the wire on the floor. It cost me $50 for 4 hours but it was worth it as it took me about 10 minutes to get around my 1/3 arc section. It took longer to glue the wire into the groove in the concrete. I created two zones around my house using a giant loop of wire. You just have to bring it closer to the house on the sides of your house. This creates a backyard and front yard area. My dog can walk through the back or front of the garage door. So I can hold her back, that's what I want. I also didn't take a cable all the way to the street as my dog is a 120 lb animal that people get scared of running there in passing. So it stops a good 10-15 feet from the sidewalk/street. The wire was good and they had good thick insulation on a solid copper core. It connected to my pet base unit with no problems. Because its solid core copper wire and 16g, 500 foot long wire has very little resistance. This makes it difficult to twist the wire together to attenuate the signal. Luckily I only had to walk about 15 feet where the cable went to the base station in my basement. This way the dog will not be shocked when it passes the base station in the house. I found it easiest to keep one leg longer and then wrap the long leg around the shorter leg to twist the wires together. I would buy this cord again for all the ground cords I have. I have also recommended this wire to about a dozen people and all have had the same experience as me. A friend even planted a 5 acre garden with no problems. My wife wants lights around the house and some trees and I will be purchasing this cord to install those low voltage lights as well.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
