I just received the AA818 but I've flown it indoors and outdoors. In flight it looks very stable. I had an Altair AA108 for a while and they are completely different beasts. The 108 feels faster and is quite capable both indoors and outdoors. The 818 freezes more easily on video and isn't as responsive to controls (in a good way). We have a lot of windy days here, especially in March, and the answers to the FAQ on the Altair website about limiting your flights to less than 10 mph in any of these winds are no joke. If you read a review of any of the planes taking off, I would assume 90% or more of them took off on very windy days. Gravity is the only thing knocking these little ones down, and an object a foot in diameter and weighing 6/10 pounds (AA108) or 1/2 pounds (AA818) won't fall as planned in high winds. Although I'm pretty much a beginner, the learning curve takes hours rather than days, and both seem very forgiving of minor glitches. They didn't have much speed to hit concrete, but furniture and grass don't hurt them much, if at all. These are still "toy" drones, but they're far superior to my previous toy drone, which was half the price of the AA108 and cost about a dollar. Good job altair. I would recommend any of these as a training drone and they are even suitable for intermediate level. They are definitely worth your money. And oh yes. The customer service is second to none.
