It's best to feed about 6 inches at a time, tighten the thumbscrew, and then rotate the entire body of the case while gently pressing on the drain until you need more serpentine. Then keep repeating this process until it stops flowing down the drains. This usually happens when you reach a clog. At this point, pull everything back out of the sewers. You may have to work hard to unclog a narrow drain, but as you can see, it works. Clears a stubborn clog in about 15 minutes. Those who say it spins like a screwdriver are right. 6 inch snake, spin and push. Anything less than that at once and it won't turn the "corners" of your plumbing because the snake has too much play. This item exceeded my expectations. I thought for $10 it was worth a try. As this is a small snake I suspect it will bend after a few uses but at this price I will buy replacements if needed if that happens.
