Basically I bought this set because of the ring which looks like it is braided and I really like it. I had to use pliers to widen the ring a bit to make it easier to open and close, but with very little adjustment it now works great. The hinge seems strong. Be careful not to let one of the hinges catch on your nose! If it is difficult to open in the hands, it will be much more difficult to remove when it is on the nose. Use pliers to slightly bend the ring for easier opening and closing. The horseshoes work great as is and are larger than others I have so add a nice variety to my collection.
