Material quality is ok but the gate is difficult to open. Carrying a 28lb 9 month old baby is really annoying. You have to squeeze the lock, lift, pull the door in and then swing it open. My husband removes the gate every night so he can go to work safely in the morning. While it's handy that you can remove and reattach it without a screwdriver, it's tricky to line up the pins that go into the holes as the pins rotate and fit snugly. Overall this is a good gate and my child's safety is worth closing the stairs. This one was the best for us because it attaches to the railing without screwing it in. We also considered buying regular gates and railing kits. It was so expensive! Each set was $30 and only attached to the railing on one side, so we had to buy two plus gates. This one does exactly what we need and looks good. Much better than regular white or unpainted ones.
