One layer of this material doesn't do much as it's fireproof, but not a very effective insulator (I tested). When possible I have laid in two layers, which is difficult on long sections but easy on short sections. Be sure to cut it long enough so it doesn't pull back and waste your pretty shrink wrap. It only comes with two short pieces of shrink wrap, so be prepared to buy more and it's not cheap. In any case, it's ok as two layers, but expensive and stingy with the supplied shrink film, which is why I give it 4 instead of 5 stars.
