Firstly, this antenna is the same length as the folding antenna that comes with the MP1 antenna, so should be no different electrically to the original antenna. Safety Issues: The first thing you'll notice is that it's wrapped around cardboard with twine. You have to be very careful (let me repeat that again). It is wound up and potential energy is stored in it. If you don't hold it right, it will go into "ACME" mode (insert "SPROING" and "WOOKA-WOOKA" sound effects here) and will likely hit you somewhere it doesn't is funny. (Especially when you get hit with a meaty, meaty threaded end!). When you first unwind this antenna you'll know what I mean, so don't let go! There is a plastic tip at the top of the antenna (it's very good that it fits if you lose it and hit you in the eye). Performance issues, etc.: This is a fixed length. If you used an OEM for setup, note that this will not work. So don't throw away the OEM once you've used it on VHF etc. The packaging says not to wind it under 10 inches, so be careful. They also say it will fit in an MP1 accessory pouch, but I won't tell you how it fits. You actually feed it through the MOLLE straps on either side of the bag (or so it worked for me). In his defense A: That's a solid antenna and really good. The threaded end of the interface is processed, and the 3/8-24 thread is clean and beautiful. Also, you won't accidentally break or bend this like you might with an OEM knockdown. It's not going to happen! You can. This type is also versatile. For example for this moment "WSHTF" at Field Day/Park Operations. Just unscrew it and hit your villain/criminal/zombie/freeloader with the antenna interface end. Or, if you're hungry and don't bring any cooking supplies, just fill up a hot dog/marshmallow at the end and TADA. Snack for a fire on a titanium stick. Performance: Electrically, I did not notice any difference to the OEM. Again, if you use folding to adjust/adjust, you're going to get frustrated. In conclusion, joking aside, it's solid, well built and has a cool "Oh Titan" factor. It has some issues but I wanted it and it wasn't too expensive. i.e. YMMV.73, Ren W3BNY
