I think it's a life saver because it's convenient

I have to admit I don't usually buy a cheap counter. But in this case I couldn't find my trusty Crafsman that I bought from Sears a while back and thought it might be worth a try. The meter came nice and fast (five stars for fast shipping), put in a cheap 9v battery and I was ready to go. I was working on some issues with my Jeep when I found it to be unreliable - mostly with continuity. After replacing the battery with a new alkaline battery, everything was fine. That was until I needed some accurate measurements. I found it hard to believe that most of my 5% tolerance resistors were reading near 7 or 8%. Cheap Chinese parts? That was until I took an accurate voltage reading: 200-300 millivolts less than it should be. Tried new leads. same problem. That was until I found my old Craftman gauge and saw that the Excel XL830L was NOT BAD. The triple tested damn meter consistently reads 0.2 volts lower than it should. The only nice thing is that it is highlighted with a nice green tint.
