I honestly don't know what it's actually used for, but I bought it to make bookcloth and it's fine for that. But for a pattern, it's perfect! I can stroke the pattern, keep the original and adjust my new stroke accordingly. It cuts easily and is strong enough to withstand many pieces of fabric.
