Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Enhanced Gaming Experience: GEEKLIN Wireless Controller for PS4/PC/Slim Console with Touch Panel, Dual Vibration, Headset Jack & USB Cable-Black by Alexandra Griego

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not only disappointing but working against itself

*EDIT: The seller was willing to write to me and was kind enough to offer a refund or replacement after expressing my initial disappointment with the purchase had expressed. While I will not change the details of my rating of any product that I have purchased and experienced, I have decided to up my rating by one star as any good customer service should be recognized by any seller/supplier. Thank you GEEKLIN for your courtesy and dedication to customer satisfaction! * = This review is several paragraphs long, so if you want TL; DR, just skip to the end = I bought this controller hoping it would work decently as an alternative to the official Sony PS4 controllers, especially since they still sell for more than the MSRP at the time of writing this article. While it didn't meet all my needs, maybe it could serve as a backup. Unfortunately, this controller feels like a waste of money as the quality is sub-par and the design choices make the controller tedious to use rather than convenient. The L3 and R3 buttons on the back of the controller are too simple. accidentally pressing while holding the controller in a way that seems intended for the controller's design, and the only way to avoid this is to make sure your middle fingertips aren't bent and touching the model number sticker on the back of the controller , which while not difficult to do, seems counterintuitive in terms of the controller's ergonomic design. The L2 and R2 triggers also have a quirky design, similar to the Dualshock 3 triggers where they are short and springy, it seems like they take more force to fully depress them. What's even weirder is that while these triggers feel like they need to be pressed all the way down, they trigger button presses with the softest touch you can get. You can tickle those L2 and R2 triggers and the keys will register as inputs, which of course is inconvenient and easy to cause accidental presses, especially in games that require quick dexterity such as gameplay. B. Fighting games. I just don't understand why GEEKLIN thinks these triggers are a good idea, especially for a 3rd party PS4 controller. If I have one good thing to say about the controller, it's that the D-Pad works well, but it also has an issue where the edges of the buttons on the D-Pad feel stiffer and not rounded enough for long-term use time - at least uncomfortable, and they also appear too slippery on the surface when delivered. Everything else on the controller is similar to the PS4 controller, but it's almost impossible to maintain and all the buttons seem to wear out pretty quickly. Oh yeah, and it comes with a free micro USB cable so I don't think you need to buy an extra one, but it's insanely short and only good for charging. The controller is recognized on both PS4 and PC/Steam so you can use it for PC gaming as well, but this is not a very important feature these days. The only reason this review has two stars instead of one is that the face buttons are at least ok, too bad everything else on the controller is holding them back. Shame.TL;DR: The gamepad has a regular D-Pad and buttons, but when you try to hold the gamepad like it should, the L3 + R3 triggers and buttons are too easy to accidentally hit and become yours Register inputs did not intend to. Breaks gameplay and introduces bugs that are not your fault.
