Review on πŸ”Š Enhance Your Audio Experience with Polk Audio DB501 5-Inch Coaxial Speakers (Pair, Black) by Matthew Gonzales

Revainrating 1 out of 5

A manufacturing defect ruined the sound quality.

One star for what I currently have in my garage. I bought four of these to install in my '89 GL1500 Goldwing. As expected, I had to pinch the holes and turn them into slots to allow the speakers to fit in the front seats, and I had to sand down most of the two surfaces of the mounting structure to fit in the back (although the hole patterns worked). good there). That's good news. Using scissors or a dam, you can easily mount these to the front of the GL1500. To fit in the back you'll need something like a bench grinder. Now for the bad news: A hard plastic ring runs around the perimeter of the cone, which Polk Audio Tech Support says should be firmly bonded to the frame. All four of my speakers don't have it. So at any volume above a whisper, the speaker sounds like aluminum cans in a bag. They promised to send me a free replacement but at the same time my bike is scattered all over my garage. Update: After not one but two replacements direct from Polk Audio I now have a total of 1 speaker that is not working. Exactly the same problem as I originally described. Super not impressed. I will look for another speaker.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Good but not great
