I love the scarves you will find in this book. They are unique and I love different patterns. Unfortunately, it was very difficult for me to follow the scheme. I bought this book mainly because of "The Country Scarf" on page 27. If you are a beginner trying to learn to knit on your own I would recommend trying something other than this book. I've been looking in this book for a pattern to try, but haven't found it yet. However, I will stick to this book in the future as I gain more skills. This gives me something to look forward to! Just to hone my skills now to use as a guide for what I consider a beginner. I have knitted several scarves with the following stitches; Ribbed, st-st, beads and main cord. I also finished a simple summer tank top from St St with i-cord straps. If you're more advanced, I think this book will give you some great projects.
