Review on ASPC20 Weatherproof Amplified Speaker Deterrent by Mike Pettigrew

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Garbage and non-existent support

An incredible disappointment. The speaker is great and sounds incredibly loud when it's working, but it always seems to have some kind of problem. It's definitely waterproof because I've driven it through water several times (always with the power switch off so I don't fry it) because it's under the bed of my Jeep. However, the power/audio cable is only 2-3 feet long, so good luck connecting to your CD/radio player. You usually splice and solder the wires, but the wires in your cable are about 24 ga, so I'm afraid they might melt from the iron. The connector this wire screws into appears to be a fairly standard (ISO) design so it's easy enough to ask the manufacturer what connector they use, unfortunately they are completely clueless. The best solution they could come up with was to tell me to twist the wires instead of soldering. I might end up taking the whole thing apart and just installing a new connector and/or wiring harness. Their phone support is terribly incompetent. Incidentally, the manual or instructions for the product can't be found either, hence the descriptions of the four wires in the shield here. Red = Positive Black = Negative Gray / Red bar = Signal positive Gray = Signal negative
