I got these because my previous Cyber Acoustics system started cracking at random times. I followed the advice of others and cleaned all the connections and even opened up the subwoofer to see if anything was coming loose, but couldn't identify the source. I think the source was the connection from the volume control to the subwoofer. However, this speaker set doesn't have that connection (the wire from the volume control goes straight to the subwoofer, no plug), so there shouldn't be the same problem. Volume control is good, as is music and voice clarity. If in doubt about getting a smaller (lower powered) speaker, just get these. They cost a bit more, but the sound quality is good and the system doesn't sound strained when you turn up the volume.
