Review on DEPSTECH Waterproof Inspection Megapixels Smartphone by Brandon Show

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well, clunky UI but doesn't bother. Good value for money.

Once I get rid of the poorly translated instructions and the very primitive Android UI, it actually works surprisingly well! Especially for the price, despite the hiccups, I still think it's a pretty good deal. Unless your own phone is sabotaging you when you try to connect to Wi-Fi (see below), it should work just fine. The password is 12345678. That's pretty simple, but the downside is that your phone's data connection will be disabled while you're using the camera since you're connecting to it over Wi-Fi. Not a huge inconvenience, but something to be aware of when using it. But to be honest, I don't think they really had a choice: no way to get full-resolution video over a Bluetooth connection; You *need* Wi-Fi to send that much data to your phone. And again, given what you get for the price, that's a minor inconvenience. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ANDROID USERS. If you're using a relatively new version of Android, the operating system will try to "help" you by not connecting to the hotspot if it finds it can't access the internet through it, and will continue to redirect data through your phone . Data Connection. At least on my phone, when I first connected to the camera, I got a notification that said something like "No internet access on this hotspot, would you like to connect anyway?" You must answer Yes to this prompt answer to make the camera app work. Without them, all you're left with is a black screen and a lot of frustration. (I don't have an iPhone so I don't know, but it's likely Apple has a similar setup.)

Pros
  • Tips: Turn on the Wi-Fi endoscope, then it will generate Wi-Fi signals. Open your phone's WiFi settings, if the WiFi name starts with Jetion, you must use the "DEPSTECH" app (iOS/Android). Or if it is launched with DEPSTECH, you need to download "DEPSTECH-view" (iOS/Android) app. This gives you a real-time image of the endoscope.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
