Review on Melissa Doug Primary Lacing Beads by Greg Bellman

Great for our son's occupational therapy

I got these for my 3 year old who is in occupational therapy as the beads they were trying to get him to work with were too small for my comfort level. My son has developmental delays as well as sensory needs that he satisfies with oral stimulation so most of the stuff ends up in his mouth. I don't let him play with it outside of therapy sessions just so he doesn't get bored and lost. Make them special that will catch his attention during sessions. He loves these things, they come with some laces but we use them to fold and also play with the pencil to develop his fine motor skills and he does them so well and as I mentioned he loves them. I will say that I see that they pose a danger to little fingers because our son is constantly sticking his fingers in them, but then again I don't let him play with them unsupervised and probably wouldn't have them if it weren't for his therapy, so something to consider when getting them. Overall it was great working with him in the sessions and really helped him learn the lesson his therapist is trying to use her little fingers to help him develop.

Pros
  • EASY TO ASSEMBLE: Our wooden bead playset includes five different bead shapes that are easy for little hands to grasp. The laces are thin enough for the beads to fit easily.
