As others have said, you get a lot of mic for a small price. I bought this to experiment with hanging the pole outside of the YouTube settings screen. Yes, it should be as close as possible to the person speaking (maybe 24 inches or less?), and yes I'll need to boost the audio a bit in post, but it's still a viable option. I'm still working on ways to reduce room noise since condenser mics just sound different than dynamic mics, but that's part of the journey. I am happy with my purchase. I run this battery powered microphone through a Tascam digital recorder to create a separate WAV audio track for video production.
