Very durable. Recently I had to put my cat Kekko to sleep and then my friends bought me a new cat and he pushed the urn off my dresser and it didn't break or open, no scratches. This is very good, the only problem is that I had to try and push my cats' ashes down the hole. The urn gives you a pouch which is very nice and soft but you try to put the pouch with the ashes inside the urn pouch. The ash bag was rectangular in shape and it was like putting a rectangular pin in a round hole. I picked it up but I was afraid I would break the bag.
