Annoying fear that cannot be turned off.

I like this device and so far it works well. I've only been using it for about a week. However, I don't like that the probe hangs freely and cannot be attached to anything. I bought this to use with the heat lamp in my incubator. The toes keep bouncing up and down trying to grab it, so I had to use a zip tie and randomly attach it to the side of the lamp. I don't know how far the sensor should be from the heat lamp or just below it. I also hate that you can't turn off the alarm. Devices do not show how to use or connect them. It just tells you how to set it to the settings you want. I don't need the alarm that's in the incubator in my shed. Who will ever hear it. The alarm signal is annoying and seems to startle the chicks. Almost every time I go into the barn the alarm rings and the chickens hide in the corner until the noise stops. Why do you need an alarm when you set the temperature you want? Isn't this device designed to turn it on and off as needed to maintain the right temperature?
